i needed to go to the roof of a skyscraper today.. it was dark out oustide and there was a sign on the door to the stairs that said "WET PAINT walls and staircase just painted".. I acknowledged the sign and opened the door to the stairs. I began to walk and started slipping on the painted floor, i could feel my boots slide sideways as i took my steps gingerly, and thought oh shit, i'm gonna bail down freaking all these flights of stairs. So then, I grabbed for the handrail and wouldn't you know it.. damnit! they painted the handrail aswell. So here i am walking up a painted stairway, holding on to a painted handrail, trying to avoid falling down the stairs so i could get to the top of this builiding... if i fell it wouldn't be certain death, it may be a few broken bones and a body full of fresh grey-blue paint, and a bruised ego possibly.. but in order to get to the top i had to make my way up, there was no other way to the top. I eventually got there, in slow motion, as it seemed.. my reward was viewing the city skyline and getting the task at hand done even so, i could of leaped to my death if there was a gust of wind as windy as the other day.. but there was not, so i'm here writing this.. on the way down i got more paint on my boots and hands as i carefully walked down these icy painted steps.. anyhow i figure if i didn't read the sign and ignored it, it would of utimately lead to my doom. well at least a good fall down a flight of stairs and a probably a good knock on the ol' noggin... but hence heeding the warning of what perils that lay a head for me, prepared me for the task and so, i conducted myself accordingly. i trust that these warning signs are a good way to prepare for any dangerous situation that we are all put into on a daily basis. if ignored they will be the end of us, if taken and acknowledged we may survive another day with out wet paint on our hands.....
